Broccoli is a green cauliflower that hails from Brassica genus-specific epithet and is a health providing vegetable. It’s various varieties are X-botrytis, broccoli Rabe-rapini, etc. and they get used in different regions of the world. Ohio State University ‘s Prof. Squateg and his associates discovered a chemical glucosinolates which is capable of curing blood cancer. The person who eats broccoli twice or more in a week is 44 percent more protected from cancer than people who do not eat. A group of scientists at John Hopkins of Medicine have discovered that sulforaphane present in broccoli activates a unique gene Nrf2 that protects the lungs from toxicants. Nrf2 can protect from the impacts of pollution and toxic substances. It also protects the ducts of the respiratory system. In fact, the allergen and the antigen activate lungs Nerve Ending Receptor Protein TRPA1 and increases the pace of the formation of cough. Since all the cough is formed in lungs, not in the throat. The scientists of Britain’s Imperial College London, have made an amazing discovery.
