1) Face Masks and Plastic Surgery:
Second world war (WW I) lasted from 1914 to 1918. It was the most dangerous war ever fought. Millions of soldiers were killed, maimed or had lost limbs, many had disfigured their faces.
The surgeons were in much demand. At that time face masks were used for the first time. Now plastic surgery has taken their place. The doctors had started to make face masks so that the soldiers could wear them and relative recognise them. In the photo given you can see, the surgeon is fixing the face mask of the shape and size required for a soldier

2) At 99, she stitches a dress for a needy child every day.
At 99, Lilian Weber is an inspiration all age groups. She makes daily a dress for a needy child. She has donated over 900 dresses fro the children in Africa. She does not get tired at that age and keeps making the clothes, sitting for hours at a time. Each morning she commences to make a dress and by evening must complete that dress. She makes each dress as a special, and there is something unique about it. She aims to please each child. She got inspired by watching a documentary film and donates this dress to an NGO known as ‘ Little Dress’ who have distributed 2.5 min dresses in 47 countries of Africa so far.

3) Benedict Cumberbatch has gone through five times the Ice Bucket challenge.
Ice Bucket challenge is famous and getting popular for raising charity funds to fight ALS ( amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a dreaded disease. The celebrities like the US President Barrack Obama, the famous show host and anchor Winfrey Opera have gone through the challenge of the Iced water bucket.
Popular British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has faced this challenge not once or twice but for five times. He has gone through this ritual while moving on a bike, in the garden while dressed in a suit he took the iced water bucket showering him. His video has become so popular that it got viewed over one million times.
ALS is a disease of nervous and brain system for slow incoming immobilisation leading to painful death.The initial stages are weakening of muscles, speech stuttering plus difficulty in swallowing or breathing.It has got known for quite some time. The donation of funds due world wide celebrities participation is more than 29 million for research and clinical trials.
There is no cure available, but only one FDA approved drug, Riluzole, which controls the onset of disease but not elimination. The onset and certain death have, time, term of two to five years. Hardly any celebrity remains who have not approved or gone through of ice water bucket.
