Ancient Seven Wonders of the world:
The Greeks were the most travelled in olden times. The best works of construction on the eastern rim of Mediterranean sea were known to themsince 1st and 2nd centuries B.C.
Of these numerable monuments, seven have been said to be given importance. Except for Pyramids of Giza all were destroyed within sixty years of their making. The Greek travelers were passing through Egyptians, Persian and Babylonian areas and were impressed by buildings what they saw.
These pyramids known as the Great Pyramids of Giza and lie in the outskirts of Cairo. The large sculpture is called the Great Sphinx. It supported a workers’ village, an industrial complex and several cemeteries. It is by far the oldest of the ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon:
These Gardens from the present record seem to be mythological – there is no physical trace of this historical gardens. They are supposed to be located near Babylon, near present day Hillah, Babil Province, Iraq. They are said to be made to please king Nebuchadnezzar’s II Persian wife, Queen Amytis, because she missed the green hills and valleys of her homeland. of the biblical by .These garden have been repeatedly written by many writers and therefore taken as if they were real.
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus:
This temple was built thrice but was destroyed each time. The ruins of this temple give some indication of its past. The Temple of Artemis was located near the ancient city of Ephesus, about 75 km south from the modern port city of İzmir, in Turkey. Today the site lies on the edge of the modern town of Selçuk.
