When buying Jewellery, the first choice of women is to have golden jewellery. Gold jewellery is also the best investment option. But the problem occurs when you discover that the gold is not real. Most of the folks are unable to test whether the gold is real or impure. There are some tests and tricks by which one can find whether it is pure or otherwise. You can find within seconds if the gold in question is real or fake sitting at home. Wear gloves so that your delicate hands do not get affected.
- Immerse gold ornament in a cup of water if it readily sinks to the bottom, it is gold, but if it floats gently for a while, then it is fake or imitative gold.

2. Take the jewellery piece next to a magnet. If it attracted to the magnet is surely a fake gold.

3. If it is 22 carat gold ornament on a gentle bite, the ornament shall get a light imprint of your teeth because 22 carat gold is soft.

4. Pick up a unglazed plate, drag the piece of jewellery piece with a little pressure. If it gives a black streak, it is impure gold, or if the line is a golden colour line gets marked, then it is a real gold piece.

5. The 22 carat gold has a colour of bright yellow, 18 carat gold has an intense yellow colour and if less than 18 carat gold it will have colour light yellow.

6. While purchasing gold jewellery look for the Hallmark used for the purity of the gold ornament. The mark shows the source(shop) and the purity of the gold used.

7. Apply some foundation or powder on the forehead. Rub the gold ornament on that place. If black streaks get marked there, then the stuff is fake gold.

8. Place a piece of jewellery on the palm, rub it vigorously, on coming in contact with the sweat real gold will never smell but the fake jewellery has acidic odour .( reason sweat reacts with metals other than gold and forms an oxide)

9. Scratch, the gold jewellery piece, put a drop of nitric acid with the help of a match stick if the spot turns to green then rest assured the gold is fake.

10. On wearing gold, if the skin has a change in colour in any way, the stuff is fake. The fake gold will have spots of green or black colour.
